During our conversations with Retailers, Suppliers and the Consumer Applications ecosystem, we start to understand certain trends and needs in the market. First Retail Labs exists to develop the next generation of technology products that will enable the transformation of retail.
Market Maker – Semantic Matching Engine
People use the web to find specific things. For example , we use AirBnB to find a bed for the night, Match – a date, Trulia – a home, LinkedIn – an employee. Each of these organizations has built out a custom technology platform to match ‘buyers’ with ‘sellers’ and vice versa. First Retail’s Market Maker enables the match transaction – it provides a utility Marketplace infrastructure built to web-scale and designed to operate on commodity hardware.
Increasingly, the web is not made of pages (e.g. Amazon.com), but rather of published entities (e.g. a specific model printer) that have their own individual value and relationships (semantically enriched). When people seek out these things, they should be able to articulate very precisely what they want or make a reasoned specification within a range of values. The Semantic Matching Engine (Patent Applied for) at the core of the product will be able to ingest offers and requests and make a match – with minimal configuration of what objects and attributes it is presented with.
First Retail has a vision of how online marketplaces will develop – more detail on our blog. Contact us to find out how the Market Maker can help with business problems ranging from rapid ingestion of entire product catalogs and mapping them into existing taxonomies of the web- to building and enabling real-time online marketplaces.
Semantic Classification - Classification Technology for Catalogs
First Retail’s technology enables our clients’ internal systems to interoperate with the Semantic Web at the interfaces of public and private information stores. Technologies such as RDF and OWL have been designed as transport and storage formats for data. Like XML, they do not do anything in themselves, however, the Semantic Classification Technology can ingest and export data in Semantic Web formats.
The Semantic Classification Technology uses advanced and scalable text classification techniques that are designed to work best on large volumes and rates of unstructured data (text). This product has at its heart a cloud-based, scalable latent semantic indexing (LSI) technology that incrementally ingests very large corpora of textual, semi-structured product information data. Where available structured data is also used to augment the information - for example, after initially classifying unstructured text, rules about price ranges can be applied in order to improve precision.
To better understand how this technology can be applied to a broad range of technical problems, particularly those that require very high scalability and real-time response, please contact us today.
Tagburner - Ecommerce Findability Solutions
The eCommerce SEO market is undergoing fundamental changes. Google’s Search Algorithms are becoming smarter, rendering BlackHat techniques ineffective. Content written for humans, by subject matter experts will be king, yet Google still needs help understanding that. And on-site search will need to better respond to highly specific search queries – LongTail Search. Tagburner’s technology is based on the same Semantic LSI and NLP techniques that Google uses to determine relevance with machine learning feedback for continous performance improvement.
For eCommerce sites with vast numbers of pages, the Tagburner solution will make product pages findable via organic, site and social search – automatically. To get a demonstration of these tools in action, please visit Tagburner.com where you can sign up for a demo or use our API.
